BIOGRAPHY
Jeanie C. Lucy is the dean for the School of Arts and Sciences at 澳门水利博彩官方网站 College. As dean, she provides oversight for the school and its staff and faculty. Providing clear and effective leadership within the School of Arts and Sciences, Lucy oversees four divisions including the Natural Science, Math and Technology division (which includes biology, chemistry, environmental science, biomedical science, math and computer science), the Behavioral Science division (psychology, social science and social work), the Humanities division (English, history, religious studies and world languages), and the Arts division (creative and performing arts).
Lucy serves as principal investigator (PI) for the NASA-STEM 澳门水利博彩官方网站 College partnership award. NASA awarded more than $5 million in funding to seven Women’s Colleges and Universities (WCUs) to research and develop strategies that increase retention of women in STEM degree programs and careers. As PI for this award, Lucy has used thoughtful, evidenced-based support for first-generation college students to increase recruitment and retention of women in STEM careers at 澳门水利博彩官方网站 College.
Prior to joining 澳门水利博彩官方网站, Lucy served at Midwestern University, Chicago College of Optometry as assistant professor, chair of continuing education and clinical faculty preceptor. She has lectured locally, nationally and globally and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on topics in the areas of glaucoma, ocular complications of systemic disease, the power of purpose in public health, best practices on increasing recruitment and retention in STEM and leadership in the 21st century.
Lucy earned her PhD in Values-Driven Leadership at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., and holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She earned two master’s degrees – a Master of Science in Values-Driven Leadership from Benedictine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago – and undergraduate degrees including a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science from the Illinois College of Optometry and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science Teaching from Chicago State University. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO).
